“New Nest for Storks” project which has been started in 2009 with the awareness of protecting nature and natural life, shown as exemplary by Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and which has won many awards for the awareness it has created, continues to being nest for the storks in its 10th year.

“New Nest for Storks” project, which has been brought into life with the aim of contributing to sustainable nature by one of Turkey’s biggest integrated energy company Aydem Enerji’s affiliates ADM and GDZ Elektrik Dağıtım which are operating in the field of electricity distribution, continues to be nest for more storks in its 10th year.

The project, which was initiated in 2009 to support environmental, cultural and social development in Aydın, Denizli, Muğla, İzmir and Manisa, which are the service areas of ADM and GDZ Elektrik Dağıtım, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. While around 13 thousand storks are being guests on special life platforms placed on electricity pylons, cooperation with Ege University Science Faculty Biology Department, Ecosystem Conservation and Nature Lovers Association and Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs 4th Regional Directorate is carried out for the sustainability of stork population, nesting and census.

Sustainable Ecological Approach

While every year, regularly before migration season starts, insulation is being done within the scope of the project, moreover storks’ lives are guaranteed as the maintenance of previously installed nests are also carried out. Around 13 thousand storks live safely because of the insulation carried out in nests and lines.

Great Awareness is created with the Project

Fatma İyilikçi, ADM-GDZ Dağıtım Quality and Corporate Communication Manager who has spoken for the awarded project “New Nest for Storks” which was brought into life to contribute to sustainable nature, said that; “With this special project, which has the 10th anniversary this year, we are being nest for 13 thousand storks every year, hosting the storks on their migration route. It’s a source of pride for us to continue this project in its 10th year which we have started with the sensitivity of sustainable environmental and which has been shown as exemplary by both the ministry and by our other shareholders. By implementing the project, we prevented stork deaths due to electric shocks during migration seasons.

In the 10th year of our project, with which we prod a wide network of shareholders in to action and which we continue to win awards; we continue to place new special life platforms for our stork guests on our electricity poles in Avşar Village where we started the project”.
