Aydem Energy Board Member Baran Saldanlı was the guest of the "Institutionalization and Sustainability in Companies" panel organized by the Young Businessmen Association of Denizli (DEGİAD), within the scope of Sector Meetings for Business Development. Speaking at the panel, to which the board of directors and members of DEGİAD have shown great interest, Saldanlı has conveyed the institutionalization journey of Aydem Energy to the participants. Drawing attention to the importance of professionalization in institutionalization, Baran Saldanlı said, "Our journey, which had started with a bold step in energy with the establishment of the first private hydroelectric power plant of Türkiye in 1995, has grown rapidly with the incorporation into our body of our distribution companies in 2008. Institutionalization, evolution to a professional management was inevitable for ourselves. This transition has taken two years.”
Reminding that of the companies that failed to institutionalize, 80 percent went into bankrupt in the second generation and 95 percent in the third generation, Saldanlı said, “Professional management eliminates risks such as intergenerational conflict and competence. Presently, thanks to the right professional management preferences, we have rapidly adopted the practices that increase employee satisfaction. We have accomplished the first public offering with our renewable energy company. Aydem Renewables has undersigned the highest amount of bond issuance in Türkiye at its first time. This issuance also has the distinct characteristic of being the largest green bond issuance of Türkiye.
Pointing out that leaving the operational management of the holding to professional management brings along a great time saving, Saldanlı said, “In this manner, you can spend more time with your family and spare more time on strategic issues, new business ideas and hobbies. Even one starts to question why we exist and what the purpose of life is. With the deepening of these questions, I have asked myself, and thus written the book titled “I exist! But why?" Professional management has also enabled myself to open another very important door; combining the trading experience of my family with my own knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit, I have made various investments. I have established the "BND" company, which mainly includes food businesses and the "Needion" e-commerce site, of which the open shelf system was inspired by the cheapness of the chain markets, aiming to make sales at the cheapest rate with low commission margins. As an angel investor, I have made investments in a games company. If we had not realized the institutional transformation; I would not be able to accomplish these jobs and develop these hobbies. Following his speech at the panel, Baran Saldanlı has answered the questions of the members of DEGİAD regarding the institutionalization process.
